Each instance of this rocking up and then down is a distracting interruption. G - I bought this because of the difficulties with Anywhere MX.
This G has the same problem, but is only ever so slightly better. It needs to be replaced. I use the Gs in the office and I need to buy a replacement for home.

Picking between a clicky scroll wheel and a smooth, free-spinning scroll wheel is a fool's errand. Obviously you need a notched scroll wheel that makes distinct, tactile steps for playing PC games.
How else are you going to swap weapons in an FPS? You'd never land on the right one! But also, obviously a free-spinning wheel is the better experience for long web pages and quickly scrolling by all those damn ads that interrupt what you're trying to read.
As Jody mentioned, Logitech solved this problem years ago with its "mometum" scroll wheel, which is on the G and the kingly G some of our favorite gaming mice.
You click a button to switch scroll modes, and the mouse is a heavy chunk of metal especially on the G that can just spin and spin and spin.

Do any of the current Razer mice currently have a free spinning mouse wheel? I will admit the uses for these sort of scroll wheels are niche, and far between, but there are times I want access to it.
Very few nice are made this way, and even if not everyone wants it, it would be nice if they made a mouse that could do this, or added an option to purchase any of their existing mice with a different wheel rather than the standard one.
Anderys93 , Feb 15, Is there any game in which a free-spinning mouse wheel would be better than a standard one?
Lafar , Feb 15, It depends on what you're using it for, but off the top of my head, Raekor Charge barb in Diablo 3 gets a faster charge animation if the "Force Move" hotkey is pressed right after a charge ends.
In this regard, the ability to bind Force Move to the wheel, and then just keep it constantly spinning will almost guarantee you get the input when needed.
In a similar vein, any game that you want to register any input at the maximum rate possible, binding it to the wheel allows you to easily do that, much easier than binding it to say Again, I understand the uses may be niche and far between, but I hardly use my mouse wheel for anything as it is Don't play many FPS on my PC anymore and anything that I do use it for with a little bit of extra effort you can use it for more controlled scrolls than just letting it go.
